Special Olympics organiser receives award

The woman who oversaw the hosting of the Special Olympics in June has been awarded for her efforts.

Chief Executive of the World Summer Games, Mary Davis, says there are six months work left in the job of handing over the reins to the next host country.

Speaking after the presentation of her award by President Mary McAleese at Dublin Castle, she said the games vindicated people’s right to a full role within society.
