A report by the Irish Office of Tobacco Control has claimed that women find it more difficult to quit smoking than men.

The report said almost 30% of male smokers quit the habit at some stage, compared to just 20% of female smokers.

It also said that, based on current trends, lung cancer would become a predominantly female disease by 2020.
