Incoming bishop welcomed in ceremony
Coadjutor Archbishop, Dr Diarmuid Martin, has been officially welcomed at a ceremony held at Dublin’s Pro-Cathedral this afternoon.
The liturgy of welcome marks his official nomination as successor to Cardinal Desmond Connell.
Attendees included President Mary McAleese, the Taoiseach Bertie Ahern and the Lord Mayor of Dublin.
Speaking at the ceremony, the coadjutor Archbishop said: “Dublin and this diocese are very much in my genes. It is good to be back”.
