Dublin clampers made €538,000 profit last year

Control Plus, the company that operates the clamping service in Dublin, has reported profits of €538,000 for last year.

The company said it clamped a total of 46,000 vehicles last year, almost double the figure for 1999.

Control Plus has generated profits of around €1m in the five years since it won the contract to operate Dublin's lucrative clamping scheme in 1998.

That contract is due to expire shortly and two other companies have reportedly entered the tendering process. Control Plus will tender again for the contract.

Dublin City Council is expected to make a decision on the new contract in the coming weeks.
