Tough new penalties for drinkers

Ireland’s drinking culture was being ushered into a tougher new era today as tough new laws took effect.

The Intoxicating Liquor Act 2003 – drafted in a Government bid to tackle growing alcohol-related problems – exposes both drinkers and licensees to more stringent penalties connected to the over-consumption of alcohol.
