Minister to carry out radio licensing review
The Minister for Communications Dermot Ahern is carrying out a review of radio licensing.
It follows fundamental changes in public service broadcasting.
The review in the private sector will describe current objectives of radio licensing and assess whether there's a need to alter them in light of changes in society and broadcasting markets.
It will also consider extending the powers of the Broadcasting Commission.
Minister Ahern says the review will rule out the possibility of any increased political involvement in the radio licensing process.
