Residents hit out at disruptions from LUAS

Residents of Charlemont Street and Pearse Place in Dublin city centre have begun picketing part of the LUAS construction site.

The residents claim dust, noise pollution and the disruption caused by the construction workers is causing havoc.

One local resident, Jackie Cooney, said the effects of the LUAS construction, which has been ongoing for several months, are making their lives intolerable.

She said contractors working on the light rail system have continually blocked footpaths that were supposed to remain open to residents of a local housing estate, forcing people to walk along the road.
