Towns and cities sign up for European Car Free Day
Nineteen cities and towns in Ireland will participate in European Car Free Day this year.
The event, on September 22, takes place simultaneously in all participating European Countries.
As it falls on a Monday, the focus will be on the commuter and the promotion of initiatives such as car-sharing, cycling, walking to work and public transport.
Independent research on car free day in Ireland last year found 82% of residents in participating towns in favour of repeating the initiative.
