Man due in court over police station attack

A Kildare man is due to appear in court in Northern Ireland today charged with an attack on a policewoman inside a Co Antrim police station.

A Kildare man is due to appear in court in Northern Ireland today charged with an attack on a policewoman inside a Co Antrim police station.

The 31-year-old man, who faces a total of seven charges including attempted murder, is expected to appear before magistrates at Lisburn.

The charges relate to an incident last week at Lisburn Police Station in which a woman police officer was attacked with an iron bar.

The man also faces charges of causing grievous bodily harm with intent to a second officer, and assaulting a third officer, causing actual bodily harm.

Other charges include aggravated burglary with intent to commit grievous bodily harm, assaulting police, resisting arrest and possessing an offensive weapon.
