A policewoman critically injured when she was attacked with an iron bar inside a Northern Ireland police station has regained consciousness, it was revealed today.

The 54-year-old officer suffered serious head injuries when she was attacked by a man inside the police station at Lisburn, Co Antrim, in the early hours of Monday morning.
