Safety warnings issued ahead of bank holiday weekend

The usual safety warnings are being issued ahead of the Bank Holiday weekend.

Motorists are being advised to drive carefully and not to drink and drive as gardaí launch their regular crackdown, Operation Taisteal.

The Irish Water Safety organisation is urging people not to take silly risks at beaches and lakes, as there is an average of three drownings every August Bank Holiday weekend.

Chief Executive John Leech says people need to be sensible to avoid tragedy.
