Secure accommodation for police attack man

The man arrested yesterday in connection with an attack on a female police officer in Co Antrim has been committed to secure accommodation.

The man is being held under a mental health order and is being assessed by doctors.

The man, believed to be from Co Kildare, was arrested shortly after a female police officer was attacked with an iron bar inside Lisburn police station yesterday morning.

The reservist, a mother in her 50s, remains in a critical condition in hospital today.
