PSNI woman critical after station attack

A woman police officer was in a critical condition in hospital today after being attacked inside a police station in Northern Ireland.

The officer was on duty at Lisburn police station in Co Antrim when she was discovered with serious head injuries shortly before 2am.

A male officer, who also suffered head injuries, was treated in hospital but later released.

One man was arrested following the incident.

It is understood the arrested man was neither a police officer nor an employee of the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
