Bank of Ireland's computer support staff are believed to have rejected a proposal aimed at averting their plan to go on strike over the "outsourcing" of their jobs to US multinational Hewlett-Packard.

The workers at Bank of Ireland's ITSIS subsidiary were balloted on the proposal after deciding to postpone a planned one-day strike earlier this week.
