Commission slams Govt failure on mental health
The Mental Health Commission has criticised the Government's failure to implement key sections of the two-year-old Mental Health Act.
In its first annual report, the commission also said that Government funding for psychiatric services was inadequate.
The Mental Health Commission was appointed by the Government to oversee the implementation of the Mental Health Act.
The commission has claimed that one-quarter of Irish people are affected by mental illness at some stage of their lives.
