Court rejects appeal to re-route Orange Parade

The High Court in Belfast has rejected an appeal from a nationalist resident in Ardoyne, North Belfast, for a re-routing of an Orange parade during tomorrow's Twelfth demonstrations.

The court turned down an application that the march went against Parades Commission rules.

The residents had argued that the march interfered with their daily lives, prevented people going to Saturday night mass and hampered the work of the busiest ambulance station in Belfast.

The ruling means that a second Orange parade can proceed through the Ardoyne area tomorrow evening as well as an earlier one in the morning.
