Guinness Ireland has announced plans to lay off 135 workers in the North and the Republic as part of a restructuring plan.

The company said the lay-offs would affect administration, sales and marketing staff.

Details of the lay-offs were revealed to the workers during meetings with management this morning.

Meanwhile, manufacturing firm Oran Pre-Cast has announced plans to shed 40 jobs at its operation in the Deerpark industrial estate in Galway.

The company, which currently employs 110 people, said the lay-offs were necessary due to a fall in demand for its products and increased costs.
