Road deaths down by 8%

The National Safety Council has revealed an 8% fall in road deaths so far this year compared to the same period in 2002.

The council said 176 have died in road accidents in Ireland so far this year, eight of them in the last seven days.

191 people died on Ireland's roads in the same period last year.
