Derry Orangemen reject joint declaration

The Orange Order in Co Derry has rejected the recent Irish-British declaration on implementing the Good Friday Agreement.

The organisation has also threatened to resign from the Ulster Unionist Party's ruling council unless the UUP also rejects the declaration.

The move was agreed by the 11 district Orange lodges in Derry and was endorsed by the local Grand Master, Robert Saulters.

Last week, the UUP ruling council voted against a motion calling for rejection of the Irish-British document.

he Derry Orange Order said the document contained nothing for unionists and a raft of concessions for nationalists.
