A report by the National Crime Council has recommended the establishment of a national office to co-ordinate crime prevention strategy throughout Ireland.

The report, which was launched today by Justice Minister Michael McDowell, also recommends the establishment of local crime prevention committees within each of Ireland's 34 existing county development boards.
