Two Irish students have been killed in an accident in southern Portugal when the car in which they were travelling was involved in a head-on collision with a train.

Two Irish students have been killed in an accident in southern Portugal when the car in which they were travelling was involved in a head-on collision with a train.

The two girls, both in their 20s and from Cork, were in Portugal on a student exchange scheme and were pronounced dead on arrival in hospital.
