IFA concerned at direction of CAP reforms
The Irish Farmers Association says it is concerned at the direction in which the reform of the Common Agriculture Policy is heading.
Talks between Europe's agriculture ministers are continuing in Luxembourg, and it could be tomorrow before a final reform package is agreed on.
However, it is almost certain to contain some form of partial decoupling.
That means breaking the link between subsidies paid to farmers and production levels.
The IFA believes this could force some farmers to produce stock at low prices.
Speaking in Luxembourg, IFA President John Dillon called on Minister Joe Walsh to take a strong stance against decoupling.
