Fire forces evacuation of Belfast industrial estate
A number of premises in and around a Belfast industrial estate have been evacuated due to a fire at the facility.
Twelve fire crews battled the blaze at a building in the Edenderry industrial estate on the Crumlin Road in the north of the city.
Offices in the estate were evacuated along with buildings on nearby Cambrai Street, while traffic was being diverted away from the Crumlin Road.
Smoke billowed throughout the area as fire crews fought to contain the blaze.
Firefighters were concerned about the possibility that the blaze could reach a store containing fireworks several floors below and cause a major explosion.
They managed to bring the blaze under control and are expected to keep dousing the building throughout the day.
Safety experts are expected to make an assessment of whether the old mill building, whose entire fourth floor was destroyed, should be demolished.
Police also urged people in the area to shut all their windows.
