A former detective today told the Morris Tribunal into Garda corruption that he destroyed documents – some relating to cases being probed by the inquiry - two years after retiring from the force.

A former detective today told the Morris Tribunal into Garda corruption that he destroyed documents – some relating to cases being probed by the inquiry - two years after retiring from the force.

Ex-sergeant Des Walsh said he burned the papers in 1996, but insisted nothing of any significance had happened around that date to prompt his action.
