Passive smoking may not be harmful, says study
Passive smoking might not be as harmful as first thought, according to a controversial new study.
American research has found that the effects of exposure to second-hand cigarette smoke, which has been prominently linked to an increased risk of heart disease and lung cancer, may have been overstated.
However critics are questioning the findings. The American research was funded by the tobacco industry.
Ash Ireland Spokesperson Doctor Fenton Howell says that the study is "ominous" and should be taken with a pinch of salt.
