A young Dublin man who was attacked in Gran Canaria last month has died from head injuries.

A young Dublin man who was attacked in Gran Canaria last month has died from head injuries.

Daniel O'Callaghan, aged 21, was mugged by a gang of youths in Maspalomas, near the island's main resort, Playa Del Ingles, on April 28.

Daniel was on holiday with a group of friends when he was attacked near the apartment where they were staying.

His parents were at his bedside when he died early this morning.

Canary Islands police, who were investigating the attack, have now launched a murder inquiry.
