Striking doctors to attend LRC talks
The Irish Medical Organisation and the Health Service Employers Agency are due to attend talks at the Labour Relations Commission today in an effort to resolve the public health doctors' strike.
Around 300 doctors attached to health boards have been on strike for almost three weeks in protest at the Government's failure to implement a nine-year-old agreement.
The striking doctors are seeking consultant status and the establishment of structures to provide adequate emergency cover at nights and weekends.
The doctors have been carrying out these duties on a goodwill basis for many years.
