Girl hurt as vandals attack car in Armagh

A three-year-old girl was injured when vandals attacked her family’s car as it drove under a footbridge, it emerged today.

A three-year-old girl was injured when vandals attacked her family’s car as it drove under a footbridge, it emerged today.

She was cut by flying glass after an unidentified object smashed through the Toyota Avensis sunroof in Portadown, Co Armagh.

The child’s father also suffered minor injuries while his wife and two other daughters, aged 10 and 13, were unhurt.

They were all treated for shock following the attack last night.

The car was passing beneath the West Street footbridge at Northway in the town when the missile was thrown.

Police have hit out at the thugs who targeted the family.

A spokeswoman said: “Police in Portadown have described the incident as a reckless and dangerous attack that could easily have resulted in serious injury to the family or other motorists.”
