Nationalist SDLP leader Mark Durkan has said while the peace process could have done with an earlier and clearer statement, the parties now needed to focus on sorting out the "remaining areas of ambiguity".

The Foyle MLA argued after Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams' statement today: "Just as there is no room for ambiguity on the future of paramilitarism there is no room either for ambivalence about the stability and integrity of the institutions.
