A man was rescued from his burning home by police today following a petrol bomb attack.

A man was rescued from his burning home by police today following a petrol bomb attack.

The man suffered smoke inhalation during the fire and was found collapsed in the hallway of the flat in Glebe Avenue, Harpurs Hill in Coleraine, Co Derry.

A police spokesman said the man was awoken by a noise and found his bedroom in flames.

He was discovered by officers lying unconscious in the hallway of the flat, and was taken to hospital where he was treated for smoke inhalation.

The window of the man’s bedroom was smashed and the remains of a petrol bomb were found on the floor. It was taken away for forensic examination.

Police have appealed for anyone with information about the incident to contact detectives at Coleraine.
