Boat sinks off north-west coast

A fishing boat has sunk off the north-west coast.

The Lady Christine started taking on water 35 miles north west of Sligo and emergency services at Arranmore and Finner Camp were alerted.

There were three fishermen on board. Attempts by rescue workers to stop the vessel from taking on further water failed.

The three fishermen were lifted off safely on one of the lifeboats. The Lady Christine sank at 4.20am this morning.
