Haass urges IRA to end all activity

A senior US government official tonight urged the IRA to abandon paramilitarism forever and enable the Good Friday Agreement to reach its full potential.

After crisis talks in Belfast aimed at resolving the latest deadlock in the peace process, President George W Bush’s special adviser on Northern Ireland, Ambassador Richard Haass urged the IRA to undergo a dramatic transformation for peace.
