Court acquits Limerick man in murder case

A 19-year-old Limerick man has been acquitted of the killing of another man in Limerick city in August 2001.

Mr William Moran Jnr with an address at Parkside Bed & Breakfast, Clare Street, Limerick denied the murder of Mr Jonathan Edwards (aged 20) of Abbeyvale, Corbally, Co Limerick at St Ita's Street, St Mary's Park, Limerick on 28 August 2001.

Today after deliberating for more than five hours, the jury at the Central Criminal Court returned a verdict of not guilty.

The court had heard that the deceased was struck a single blow to the head with a piece of aluminium and died from a blunt force injury to the head.
