Ahern to hold talks with German, Belgian counterparts

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, is to travel to Berlin and Brussels today for talks with German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhostadt.

The Convention on the Future of Europe, which is devising a single treaty to replace all the existing EU treaties, is expected to top the agenda.

The talks are part of a series of meetings with leaders before Ireland takes over the presidency of the EU in January of 2004.
