50 jobs to go in Cavan plant

Fifty jobs are to go in Co Cavan as Wellman International, which makes synthetic fibre, is cutting its workforce.

The company is cutting back employee numbers from 383 at its plant in Mullagh, near Kells as part of its survival plan.

The company says the future of the plant depends on the introduction of more flexible working practices and the outsourcing of certain activities.
