A company that makes transformers for the wind energy market has announced plans to create 70 jobs in Cavan over the next two years.

ON Thursday night the top man at Chevron, Irishman David O’Reilly, insisted that Ireland would have to deploy all of the ingenuity it used to create the Celtic Tiger to successfully tackle the current energy crisis.

Fifty jobs are to go in Co Cavan as Wellman International, which makes synthetic fibre, is cutting its workforce.
