Angler dies in Lough Corrib accident

The body of an angler has been recovered from Lough Corrib in Co Galway.

The body of an angler has been recovered from Lough Corrib in Co Galway.

It is believed he died while trying to prevent his boat from going adrift after he and his friend docked at a small island on the lake.

The incident happened at about 2.30pm this afternoon and helicopters from the air sea rescue units at Shannon and Finner Camp in Donegal rushed to the scene.

The man was a visitor to the Connemara area.

His body has been taken to Galway University hospital where a post mortem will be carried out.
