Man dies in Wicklow road accident

A 21-year-old man has died following a road accident in Co Wicklow.

The single-vehicle accident occurred at 6am at Newtown in Donard.

The deceased was a front-seat passenger in the car, and was brought by ambulance to Naas General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the car was also brought to Naas General Hospital where his condition is described as not serious.

There were no other injuries or vehicles involved. The name of the deceased will not be released until all next of kin have been informed.

Elsewhere, the 74-year-old male pedestrian who died following a collision with a lorry in Castleblaney yesterday has been named as Peter Shevlin of Castleblaney, Co Monaghan.
