Govt urged to increase investment in cancer care

Doctors, trade unionists, politicians and support groups have joined forces to campaign for increased Government investment in cancer care services.

The campaign was organised by independent TD Jerry Crowley to highlight what he said is chronic under-funding of cancer care in Ireland.

It will focus on the west and south of Ireland, where almost half of those who need radiotherapy treatment cannot access such services.

The group behind the campaign has demanded an immediate extension of the Breast Check scheme, prompt radiotherapy access for all and improved oncology services.
