Fine Gael's Foreign Affairs spokesperson Gay Mitchell says there is no immediate need for a war on Iraq, and UN inspectors should be given time to continue their work.

Mr Mitchell said: "Its very clear that the Iraqi regime is both reluctant and sluggish to respond to the demands of the UN, but I do not see that there is any immediate need for an invasion of Iraq.
