Religious orders paid half of original compensation demand

Religious orders paid less than half of the State's initial demand as part of their contribution to the compensation scheme for victims of abuse in residential institutions.

According to reports this morning, the State initially demanded a €190m contribution from the religious orders on top of property already transferred to the State.
