Free school meals schemes get €2m funding increase

The Government has announced an extra €2m in funding for free school meals projects.

The Government has announced an extra €2m in funding for free school meals projects.

Mary Coughlan, the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs, said a series of new projects will be introduced later this year to provide free hot and cold meals to disadvantaged primary and secondary school pupils.

Ms Coughlan said the first of the new pilot projects will begin at the start of the new school year this September.
