Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy has announced plans by two companies to create 350 new jobs in Athy, Co Kildare.

Elk, an Austrian house-manufacturing firm, is planning to hire 250 workers in Athy, while the Rowan Transport Group is seeking 100 employees for its new distribution centre in the town.
