The ATGWU has called for a freeze on price increases by semi-state companies to be inserted into the proposed partnership deal currently being studied by the social partners.

The union, Ireland's second-largest, said the cost of living has surged in recent months, mainly due to government-approved price rises by the ESB, Bord Gais, CIE, VHI and RTE.
