Gov't to give TD's and Senators a golden handshake

TD's and Senators who are forced to give up their local authority seats because of new dual mandate laws are to get a golden handshake of €5,000.

The gratuity payments for 128 Oireachtas members, as well as a €7,800 retirement fee will cost the tax-payer €1.5m.
