SDLP proposes cross-border police training college

The SDLP has proposed the establishment of a cross-border policing college to jointly train members of the PSNI and the Gardaí.

The party has also proposed that the powers of the Criminal Assets Bureau be extended to the PSNI to allow Northern officers to seize the proceeds of crime.

Spokesman Alex Atwood said the British government is streamlining the law to allow senior gardai to join the PSNI due to the low numbers of Catholics applying for jobs in the force.
