Donaldson denies going behind Trimble's back

Ulster Unionist MP Jeffrey Donaldson has denied that he took his party's leader by surprise in supporting the launch of a united unionist campaign today.

The UUP spokesman said the campaign had not sought Mr Trimble's approval before launching what it called the Stormont Principles on Unionist Unity.
