Peace activists are to hang a "No To War" banner from the N11 overpass in south Dublin later today in an effort to generate support for this Saturday's anti-war march.

The N11 near UCD is one of the busiest roads in the capital.

The Irish Anti-War Movement has predicted that up to 20,000 people will attend this weekend's march, which begins at the Garden of Remembrance on Saturday afternoon.

Spokesman Kieran Allen said the United States is planning to go to war against Iraq because its president, Saddam Hussein, is not following pro-American policies.

"He's not the only one who has breached UN resolutions," Mr Allen said.
