Theatre nurses at the James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Dublin have begun the first of two six-hour work stoppages as part of a dispute over payment for on-call arrangements.

The hospital's 15 theatre nurses, all members of the Irish Nurses Organisation, ceased work at 8am today and will not resume until 2pm. A similar stoppage will take place on Thursday.
