Govt facing further pressure over compensation deal

The opposition is expected to put further pressure on the Government today over its deal with religious orders regarding compensation for victims of abuse in residential institutions.

It emerged yesterday that Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy had originally demanded that the church authorities be required to pay at least half of the compensation.
